Value of Insulating Existing Homes research report demonstrates cost benefits across the board

The 2024 Value of Insulating Existing Homes report has just been published, a review of the Insulation Council of Australia and New Zealand’s previous report from 12 years ago. It gives updated data on scope, cost and benefits of various insulation upgrades.

Much Australian housing is uninsulated or under-insulated; across ceilings, walls and floors meaning that at present, householders and governments are missing the opportunity capitalise on these health, financial, and environmental benefits of retrofit insulation. In the report, this cost benefit is demonstrated by energy efficiency and reduced carbon emissions, but the great improvements to occupant health should also not be overlooked.
